Mind. Body. Brain. Becoming You.
MEET DR. CHENG
I’m Dr. Wen-Yu Cheng, a licensed psychologist, Jungian analyst, and neuropsychologist. Attending to mind, body, brain, and culture, we find together what serves your path.

— Speaker and teacher for audiences from the C.G. Jung Foundation of New York and Shih Chien University in Taipei to NVIDIA teams in the US and Asia-Pacific
— Clinical work across academic medical centers, neurorehabilitation, private practice, and workplace programs, with clients from students to older adults

“
Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.
C. G. JUNG
Letter to Fanny Bowditch, 1916
TOWARD WHOLENESS
Therapy is not only about fixing or coping with problems.
Carl Gustav Jung, the Swiss psychiatrist who founded analytical psychology, developed the theory of psychological types on which the widely known MBTI was later built. He saw the psyche as always moving toward wholeness. With a professional companion, therapy becomes a way to see and integrate your strengths, blind spots, and shadow.
Psychotherapy & Jungian Analysis
SERVICE 01
Individual Therapy · Couples Counseling · Jungian Analysis · Online in English, Mandarin & Taiwanese
Many thoughtful, accomplished people come to therapy when stress, loss, or change has raised a deeper question. I offer a confidential space to slow down, listen to what is emerging from within, and find a path of growth that makes sense to you.

What brings people here
Stress, anxiety & burnout
Anxiety, depression, panic, insomnia, perfectionism, and burnout, whether you’re working, studying, raising a family, caring for others, or in a season of change. Support for medical leave (FMLA) or short-term disability (STD) when needed.
Identity & culture
For Asian American, immigrant, and second-generation adults, international students, expats, and LGBTQ+ people exploring belonging, family expectations, and identity through collective, relational, and inner lenses.
Relationships & couples
Couples counseling, including intercultural and bilingual couples: communication, shifting roles, and cultural differences, as well as each partner’s inner world of attachment, family of origin, and generational patterns.
Trauma & the body
Trauma-informed, somatic therapy for childhood and relational trauma, complex trauma, stress held in the body, chronic pain, and illness, moving at your body’s pace with mindfulness and safety.
Transitions, grief & meaning
Midlife and career change, retirement, family or business succession, empty nest, loss and grief, caring for aging parents, and the search for meaning when the old path no longer fits.
Depth & inner life
Dreams, psychological types & MBTI, shadow work; active imagination through mindful, body-centered methods; and the therapy relationship as a field for exploring the unconscious. Therapists and analysts in training welcome.
How we work together
Individual therapy
50-minute sessions, usually weekly. We explore recurring patterns, emotions, and body experience, and integrate methods to fit your needs.
Couples therapy
75- or 90-minute sessions for couples, including intercultural and bilingual couples, to understand each other’s patterns and find new ways to connect.
Jungian analysis
A longer-term process of individuation, working with dreams, symbols, and active imagination, usually one to two sessions a week.
RHYTHM & FLOW
Steady water shapes stone
A river does not carve its path in a single surge; it is the steady, unbroken flow that shapes stone and opens a way through. Inner change works the same way. A consistent rhythm lets deep work unfold and change accumulate, so I usually recommend weekly sessions, with flexibility for travel and time zones.

How I work
A whole-person approach.
Mental health does not exist in isolation. Your emotions, body, brain health, beliefs, relationships, and cultural background are understood together, as one interconnected whole.
Bilingual and culturally responsive.
Trained in both Taiwan and the United States, I offer sessions in English, Mandarin, and Taiwanese (Minnan), with a lived understanding of Asian and Chinese family dynamics, immigration, and life across cultures.
Depth grounded in neuroscience.
Deep experiential work, including Jungian analysis and a mindful body-centered approach, informed by clinical training at Mount Sinai in New York City and Barrow Neurological Institute.
Committed to ongoing growth.
With more than 20 years of clinical practice, I keep an open, reflective practice, supported by ongoing professional consultation and my own inner work, including long-term Vipassana meditation.

Frequently asked questions
QUESTIONS
Getting started · Fees & insurance · FMLA / STD · Location & PSYPACT · Privacy · Languages
How do I get started?
1) Book a free 15-minute consultation by video (Zoom). If we are a good fit, we will schedule your first session; if not, I will offer referrals. 2) You will receive an invitation to a secure SimplePractice client portal, where you complete the intake and consent forms. 3) Begin therapy sessions or your evaluation, with a plan we agree on together.
Do you take insurance? What are the fees?
I am an out-of-network, private-pay provider. Fees depend on the service, and I can provide a superbill you may submit to your insurer for possible reimbursement. A number of sliding-scale spots are available for therapy.
Can you help with FMLA or short-term disability?
When clinically appropriate, I can provide evaluation and documentation to support Family and Medical Leave (FMLA), short-term disability (STD), or work and school accommodations.
Where can you see clients?
Online for clients located in Washington and PSYPACT states, with in-person evaluations or occasional in-person sessions in the Seattle area on request. I also hold a psychologist license in Taiwan. If you live elsewhere, please ask; options depend on your location.
I live outside Washington. Can I still work with you?
Very likely. I hold PSYPACT authorization (APIT), which allows me to provide telepsychology to clients who are physically located in any PSYPACT participating state during the session. Most US states participate; you can check the current PSYPACT map ↗. If your state is not included, or you live outside the US, please reach out and we can discuss what options are available.
Are online sessions private and secure?
Yes, with a few limits worth knowing. Sessions are confidential under US professional ethics and law and are held on secure video platforms; please join from a private, quiet space. No online platform can guarantee complete security, and connections can drop, so at the start we agree on a backup plan and an emergency contact, and I confirm where you are at each session. As in all therapy, confidentiality has legal exceptions: a serious risk of harm to yourself or others, suspected abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult, or a court order or other legal requirement. These are explained in full in the informed consent you review before we begin.
Which languages do you work in?
English, Mandarin, and Taiwanese (Minnan). Many clients move between languages, and that is welcome.
